We Love Bury St Edmunds!
Oakes Barn is a Real Ale Free House

Oakes Barn is a Real Ale Free House, nestled on St Andrews Street South, just off the medieval grid in Bury St Edmunds.

There is always a warm and welcoming atmosphere, a place where people feel at home. The pub has its roots planted firmly within the community, and has always strived to embody the saying ‘the pub is the hub’.

Oakes Barn was awarded CAMRA pub of the month, Community pub of the year and Pub of the Year for West Sufolk since its opening just 3 years ago.

The pub holds numerous charity events for local causes annually, and supports causes by getting involved as a staff team; The ladies last year completed the St Nicolas Hospice “Girls Night Out” Walk.

Within the pub, various clubs are held in the evenings and during the day, from “Blokes at the Oakes”, a group of older gentlemen who meet up,  “Conversation French”, and Knitting.  The photo on our board lists the groups and events. Oakes Barn has a resident “Folk Club”, and a resident band who play once a month.

Oakes Barn has a function room that is available for private hire for parties or events; we also offer the room to community groups foc.

Oakes Barn offers a range of 6 real ales, that are carefully considered to allow for differing tastes. There are craft beer pumps, lagers, and quality wines, spirits and a great selection of soft drinks.  Oakes Barn stocks Frank and Ernest Coffee, and most of our customers often has a lovely cake to go with that!

We have a selection of food served through the day, with Lunch specials from noon till 3pm, including a range of traditional hot meals.
