Bury Theatre Workshop - The Merchant Of Venice - Bury St Edmunds theatre

Bury Theatre Workshop’s 7th outdoor ‘Shakespeare in the Park’ production, now a much-loved feature of the Suffolk theatre goer’s calendar.

Bring a picnic and enjoy classic drama in the beautiful surroundings of the Abbey Gardens and ruins with BTW’s trademark ‘Globe Theatre’ set and fabulous Elizabethan costume.

The Merchant of Venice is Shakespeare’s famous tale of love, law and the perils of short term, high interest borrowing. A hugely entertaining drama energetically performed with ‘original’ music and dance. Best enjoyed with family, friends, picnic and a glass of something…

‘The quality of mercy is not strained; it droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven upon the place beneath.’

Performances will be stopped only in the event of thunder/lightning. Please wear suitable clothing (and sun protection) for this outdoor event and bring a blanket or chair to relax on. Refreshments available. Arrive early to find the best location for your picnic and enjoy the play!

Regrettably, there is no wheelchair access but help will be available for those with difficulties.
