Proposed – all churches ring their bells at sundown as is tradition for the eve of St Edmunds Day (Francis Young also suggests “The medieval tradition on the eve of St Edmund’s day was for all the churches to ring their bells at sundown. I don’t know whether there’s any mileage in asking them if they’ll do this. The Cathedral tends to celebrate St Edmund’s Day on the nearest available Sunday.” Can we ask the churches to do this in the 10th November issue??
