Thank you so much to James and all at “We Love Bury St Edmunds!” for supporting My WiSH Charity with “A Night 2 Remember”.
My WiSH Charity supports the whole of West Suffolk Hospital and our aim is to further enhance the care and support our wonderful staff give to both patients and their families. Your hospital cost’s £.5 million per day to run, that’s just over £5 per second, quite an astounding figure I’m sure you agree!
We support over 90 funds covering all aspects of the hospital from the maternity unit to the stroke unit, the Macmillan unit to the day surgery unit and even the mortuary.
This year with the wonderful donations that you the community have given we have been able to open a bereavement room. This room is used by parents and their families whose babies are born sleeping. It gives them a safe space away from others to spend precious time together as a family.
We have also been able to provide a 100 metre memory walk. This walk allows us to take our patients that suffer from dementia along it helping them to reminisce which in turn reduces their anxiety about being in hospital. It consists of local and national images throughout the decades.
We also run campaigns and A Night 2 Remember will be supporting our Love Your Nodes campaign to help us purchase a Sentimag machine for our breast care unit. This machine will be a fantastic addition to the unit and allow surgeons to pin point the first lymph node ensuring accurate removal. This, in turn, means less invasive surgery, faster recovery time, less time in theatre giving the breast team more time for other procedures and also has the added benefit of fewer complications post- surgery. One in four patients will develop lymphodema after having lymph nodes removed but by accurately removing the first node only this is will be significantly reduced.
We are all so lucky to have such an amazing award winning hospital on our doorstep and the care and attention that the staff give is just incredible but we aim to help it be even better.
We are your charity supporting your hospital.
