We Love Bury St Edmunds!

I remember in 1976 I had saved for 2 yrs to go to the USA to my Sister’s, there was a bloody heat wave here.

Also I remember the bad floods I think it was about 1968. All of Fornham road was flooded. Eastgate Street was so deep the Red Cross used row boats to rescue people. I remember that I looked down the Abbey gardens and you could only see the very top of the tallest slide. Also a few years ago I can’t remember when, I was walking to work and the wind was so strong I saw a car with a large tree crashed across the top, it was smashed flat. Luckily the man had just got out to get a paper so just missed getting smashed with the car.
