When I was hairdressing we always looked forward to the hairdresser’s ball. It was held every year at the corn exchange. Wonderful night with live music, lovely food, really good raffle, and of course great company.
It was the one night of the year that you really got dressed up, all the ladies in their gorgeous dresses, the men in tuxedo. Always danced the night away, always hammered. Amazing memories. Hundreds was raised for charity.
Mr and Mrs George and Roger and Krys Rylatt who I used to work for helped to organize it. They were well respected and did a lot for Bury in fund raising. They are all sadly missed. Pity it isn’t there any more. A great place for a posh do.
