My older brother used to take me and my twin sister to Saturday morning pictures every week. We took a bar of chocolate with us. I can’t remember if they sold sweets in cinema then.
We watched black and white films, the Lone Ranger, Flash Gordon, and Mickey Mouse. The cinema was always packed. Everybody shouting at the villains, cheering when the hero appeared. It was loud and fun! Now it’s expensive, there’s hardly anybody in the cinema. It’s so quiet you daren’t even open your sweets for fear of someone glaring at you for making a noise. Shame because it was a treat most people could afford and enjoy. Now if you’re a family it’s too much and they charge ridiculous prices for food and drinks.
