We Love Bury St Edmunds!

The Abbey Gate is open wide,
inviting all to come inside.

Take the gardens at your leisure,
giving all so much pleasure.

People say it is the Jewel in the Crown,
of this lovely Suffolk town.

Medieval streets criss cross its heart,
the Angel Hill a work of art.

The Cathedral with its millennium steeple,
supported by the local people,
where Dickens came to take a look,
liked it so, wrote a book,
of Pickwicks efforts to become an MP,
and at The Angel stopped for tea.

John Betjeman who said Bomb Slough,
thought Bury was so lovely now.
A quintessential English town,
so nice no one should put it down.

The Butter Market and Cornhill,
on Market days, with people fill.
To buy veg, and clothes ,sweets and toffee,
or just to sit and have a coffee.

The Thoroughfare where we depart,
to the new complex called The arc.
The buildings are of stark contrast,
help bridge the modern and the past.

So come ,visit St. Edmundsbury Town,
you will be welcome, and not let down.
